‘Independence Day’ Sequel Scheduled for 2015 Release

Independence Day fans rejoice, because after director Roland Emmerich confirmed two sequels to the high-grossing sci-fi blockbuster were in the works, titled ID Forever Parts I & II, 20th Century Fox have assigned a release date of 7th March 2015 for the first of these follow-ups.

No other information has yet been confirmed, with casting and plot details being kept under wraps, although Bill Pullman has expressed strong interest in returning. Will Smith has yet to confirm whether he will make an appearance, but the prospect of the inevitable commercial success will undoubtedly be appealing to the seasoned Hollywood actor, who has most recently appeared in the underwhelming After Earth with his son, Jaden.

Emmerich has completed work on White House Down, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, which revolves around The White House falling under siege from a unit of heavily armed ex-military invaders. The explosive thriller will come crashing onto screens on 28th June 2013 in the United States, with United Kingdom viewers having to wait until 6th September 2013.
